No word of a lie - for a miniature this is ridiculously cheap, considering it's a Navy Strength rum with bags of flavour.
The National Museum of the Royal Navy is based in Portsmouth, just across the Solent from the Isle of Wight Distillery - who partnered with them to produce a Navy Strength rum and gin in honour of the 'tots' that sailors would traditionally be given each day to boost morale.
The Distillery sourced rums from Guyana, Trinidad and Jamaica, marrying them in casks that also contained a stave from the HMS Victory itself - launched in 1765, she is the oldest commissioned warship in the world. So you can drink the rum knowing that you're experiencing some of the character of the ship itself - albeit in a very small way!
Now you might think this is just a marketing exercise to shift a few bottles in a museum - and I was in exactly the same boat... um, ship, when I was presented with a sample of it. But I was incredibly impressed at the rich, dark coffee and high-cocoa chocolate flavours that fill the glass, along with a depth of texture that makes water not a necessity given the high strength. I think this is great even at room temperature, whereas as most high strength dark rums tend to need chilling slightly to tempre the alcohol heat. It also provides a strong backbone for rum-based cocktails such as Mai Tais, and even works well in a rum Old Fashioned. Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by the carriers we use.Please note due to our opening times goods ordered on a Saturday may result in a delayed arrival. Goods ordered on a Sunday or Monday will be shipped from the store on the Tuesday immediately following - please bear this in mind if you have a deadline.

Next Day Delivery uses DHL services, a tracking number will also be supplied to allow you to follow its journey.

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or excessive amount of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.

The Spirit Specialist offers EXCHANGES ONLY on unwanted items to an equal amount. Refunds will not be given, cash differences in favour of the purchaser in the case of an exchange will also not be provided.Your statutory rights are not affected.
