A classic Italian hazelnut liqueur that uses nuts from the Piedmont region - supposedly these are bigger and plumper than most, offering a slightly sweeter taste. Those hazelnuts are crushed and macerated in a base alcohol, which is then redistilled to create a hazelnut spirit. That spirit is then infused with extracts and distillates of roasted coffee beans, cacao pods, vanilla and a secret selection of herbs before a sugar/water solution adds sweetens and dilutes down to the required alcohol level.
The bottle pays honour to Christian monks living in the region over 300 years ago, who - as many monks would - distilled spirits using local ingredients to create drinks for themselves and the local communities.
Frangelico is said to be named after Fra' Angelico, a hermit monk who lived in the area in the 18th century.
I'm not a great fan of nuts in general, but what helps Frangelico is that use of coffee and chocolate - there's a nice depth to the flavour profile which could have become pretty one-note, and the balance between sweet and savoury is pretty much bang on.
The liqueur pairs well with a number of other drinks, which is probably why it's so popular. Coke, coffee, cream - even Tequila, believe it or not!

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
