Since 2012, the Piccadilly Group has been producing malt whisky made from 6-row Indian barley in the town of Indri, situated in the northern province of Haryana in the foothills of the Himalayas. The distillery even operates its own maltings, which are partly supplied with solar energy. As noted on the front label, 'Indri' in Sanskrit refers to the five senses, all of which the whisky is attempting to stimulate.

This is the first release from Indri to hit the shores of the UK, this is a combination of three different cask types married together - ex-Bourbon, Pedro Ximenez Sherry and barrels that previously held French red wines.

The end result is an amalgam of flavours, from red berries, black tea and soft dried spice before a burst of intense tropical fruit notes in the second half. It's a fantastic whisky and a great introduction to what Indri can produce and I very much look forward to future releases!
