Kinahan’s whiskey was founded by Daniel Kinahan in 1779, with generations of the Kinahan family ensuring it became renowned for taste and character. In 1807, Charles Lennox, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, was so impressed with a particular bottling that he ordered all barrels at the Kinahan family cellars be kept exclusively for his private use, marking each cask with 'LL' - a mark that now adrons every bottle from the resurrected brand, which was relaunched in 2014. Looking to stand out in an increasingly crowded Irish whiskey market, the new team looked at cask maturation, and became the first Irish whiskey producer to mature in 'hybrid' casks, using casks that had been constructed using staves from a variety of different types.
Kinahan's currently source their spirit from other Irish distilleries, but so much focus is put on the maturation side that it's not really fair to say it isn't 'their' whiskey. And a purpose built distillery is imminent, meaning they can work from scratch with their own new make.
The Small Batch is a marriage of malt, grain and pot still whiskies that have been aged for a minimum of 6 years in ex-Bourbon barrels. It's incredibly fruity, with red apple and pear notes alongside creme brulee and nut brittle. Up there with the best of Irish blends, this is soft and approachable with bags of flavour.

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
