Possibly one of the most sought after collectible whiskies in the world, it's hard to believe that when it was first launched in 1983 this bottling had a retail price of only £25 - which was considered somewhat expensive at the time (an equivalent of around £75).
This bottle is being sold on behalf of a customer of The Spirit Specialist. It was a present from a delivery driver who worked with the Macallan Distillery in the late 1980s/early 1990s and had purchased some from the distillery shop.
The majority of Anniversary Malt 25yo releases have a year of distillation on the bottom left of the label. As you can see from the image, sadly the bottom part of the label has ripped off. However, this is a identical bottle to a 2nd one the owner also owns which is in pristine condition (and which he is keeping) so I am able to inform you this is a release that doesn't actually have a distillation year on it.
However, that does not mean we cannot date this release - between 1983 and 2000 Macallan released vintage bottlings dating from 1957 to 1975, with the exception of 1960, 1961 and 1973. The UK transitioned from 75cl bottles to 70cl in the late 1980s (with a cut-off at 1990), so with some basic maths we can establish this 75cl does not contain the 1973 vintage, so it must be either 1960 or 1961 distillations (or both!) that would have been bottled around 1986 or 1987.
In terms of the packaging - as mentioned the bottom 1cm of the front label has been torn off, and there is some slight water damage to the side. The seal however is fully intact, and the fill level is good. The '25' on the front of the wooden box is somewhat faded, and there isn't that much straw inside (although straw can easily be replaced) - other than that, it's still in very good condition.

PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
