Ojo De Dios
Ojo De Dios Odd Cafe Mezcal 35% 70cl
Created by 3rd generation Mezcalero Francisco Ortiz, Ojo De Dios (translating to 'Eye of God') is a range of Mezcals that are proud to divulge as much information as they can regarding the production process. On the back label you'll find all you need to know about how this superb spirit was made, which makes a change for the vast number of agave spirit brands that keep everything hidden away.
The Cafe bottling infuses their house Mezcal with Arabica coffee beans that were grown in the Oaxaca mountains by the Mejia Bautista family. Whereas a load of coffee tequilas are sickly sweet or poorly balanced (looking at you, Patron) this has a stunning combination of earthy dark chocolate, rich coffee and a thread of soft smoke lifting the flavour profile. It's quite superb, and makes a wonderful after-dinner treat.
