Launched in 2019, South Loch Gin is the brainchild of James Sutherland, owner and founder of 56 North. 56 North was one of the UK’s first dedicated gin bars, opening its doors back in 2008 before the popularity of gin really took off. With over two decades in the on-trade and a big supporter of the gin category, James and his team have helped nurture, educate and inspire others to try the many brilliant brands and gins on the market.
With an unbounded love for gin, James, together with distiller Lindsey, spent late nights and early mornings running various distillations tests through the bar’s very own distillery equipment before creating the final recipes for the initial core gin expressions, which officially launched in the summer of 2019. The name South Loch comes from The Meadows, one of Edinburgh’s famous parks, which was originally named South Loch before changing it name to The Meadows in 1621. The park was once a source of water for Edinburgh’s inhabitants including its many distilleries and breweries.
Citrus & Lime Flower was the first gin released under the South Loch branding - it's essentially their core bottling. Forward on the juniper, there's a good deal of citrus upfront as you'd expect, which is offset with more aromatic notes from lime flower and heather. It's a little overpowering for the likes of a Dry Martini, but a neutral tonic makes this incredibly refreshing and it also has enough zip to work in the likes of French 75!

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
