Launching in 2019, Spirited Union is a distillery and cocktail bar in Amsterdam - solar-powered, the building itself is fully sustainable. Founder Ruben Maduro previously worked in the Dutch Antilles and the contacts he made there enabled him to source rums from a variety of distilleries, that he then redistills and macerates with a variety of ingredients to create a selection of botanical rums that offer a new dimension into the category. These aren't flavoured rums per se - in which the vast majority of brands will add artificial flavourings to the rum spirit before bottling. Similar to gin, Spirited Union use the rum as a base to then enhance through maceration and redistillation with quality botanicals, without the use of sugars and god knows what else.
Here, Jamaican rum is infused with Valencia and slightly more bitter Curacao orange peels, alongside fresh ginger root. The difficulty here is getting the freshness of the orange without being too sweet, the heat of ginger with being too fiery, and still letting that classic funky ester note of the Jamaican rum come through. And boy do they nail it. It's fresh, juicy, spicy and funky in one go, and a joy to drink with ginger ale - not a spicy ginger beer though, which combats a bit too much. Just a sipper on it's own out of the fridge - great stuff.

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.
Items are NOT insured as standard, please contact us if you would like to discuss additional insurance for premium products.
All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
