Sweeten's Cove is a 9-hole golf course that opened near Chattanooga, Tennessee in 2015. From a cult darling the course hit the mainstream when legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning and tennis star Andy Roddick became part of the ownership group.
Now golf and whiskey are a great pairing on their own, so it wasn't much of a surprise when a Sweeten's Cove whiskey release was launched by Manning in 2020. Sourced from the George Dickel Distillery, the initial bottlings retailed at over $200 to some surprise. However, the 'Kennessee' was released in 2023 as a more affordable bottling.
The catchy name is the result of blending Bourbon whiskey from Dickel in Tennessee along with that from an unnamed distillery in Kentucky (although I suspect it might be Castle & Key). Blending is overseen by Master Blender Marianne Eaves, the first female MB in Tennessee, and the final marriage then sees spirals of toasted sugar maple wood inserted into the barrels for around 3 months to impart an added dimension.
Although 'sugar maple# sounds like it'll turn the whiskey into some kind of liqueur, this is absolutely not the case. Yes, there is an aptly sweeter note to the whiskey - the mashbills aren't diverged either but apparently the Kentucky element has a higher proportion of rye than it's partner - but the balance is impeccable. It's very much a whisky to be savoured overlooking the 18th green after a round under handicap, especially if the sun is going down and the sky is on fire. It's an excellent Old Fashioned base too, but I much prefer to enjoy this on it's own.

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
