The Mai-Tai was created in 1944 by Victor Jules Bergeron - better known as 'Trader Vic' - at his pan-Asian restaurant in Oakland, San Francisco. He tested a new rum cocktail recipe on two frinds from Tahiti, who after the first sip exclaimed 'Mai Tai-Roa Ae' - which translates to 'out of this world!'. The drink became so popular the original rum used as the base - Wray & Nephew 17yo - sold out worldwide.
The Bali-Hai Hotel - named after the song in the musical 'South Pacific' opened in San Diego in 1955 and has been family-owned for over 60 years. The hotel boasts their Mai-Tai cocktail uses no fruit juices, and a counter over the bar displays how many have been sold - over 2 million to date!
To serve: Shake vigorously with ice cubes in a shaker before straining over crushed ice in a tumbler or tiki glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint and the shell of half a lime to symbolise a palm tree on a Caribbean island.Please note due to syrups and purees being used in the production of these cocktails there may be some seperation within the bottles - this is perfectly natural and will not affect the flavour of the drink once prepared!

Shipping rates are based on WEIGHT of goods - the total weight of your order will determine the cost of the shipping charge due to price banding imposed by Royal Mail. Orders weighing up to a max of 2kg will be charged £5.99, and orders weighing over 2kg will be charged £7.99. ANY PURCHASE OVER £150 WILL RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spirit Specialist is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays - all orders are collected by Royal Mail the day after they are packaged up. As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND IF YOU ARE WORKING TO A DEADLINE!

All orders are sent on a Tracked service with Royal Mail, which provides a Tracking Number for you to follow its journey to your destination.

All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
