    Born and raised in Jamaica, Chris Blackwell was the founder of the famous Island Records and created Blackwell Rum as a brand to honour the rum heritage of his birthplace.

    The family on his mother's side used to own the J. Wray & Nephew and Appleton Estate distilleries, and it's the former that produces this excellent dark rum for his brand.

    There is no age statement but it's on the youthful side, to accentuate the classic Jamaican rum funky notes of overripe banana and leather, along with rich, almost spicy molasses and treacle notes. It's very pleasant to sip and certainly evokes a Caribbean vibe, but in the likes of a Mai Tai or a Dark & Stormy it's an absolute winner!
