- DetailsA brand co-founded in the Spring of 2020 by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley - stars of the hit TV show 'The Vampire Diaries' - Brother's Bond pays homage to the bond the pair formed in their personal while playing the Salvatore brothers. Teaming up with Vincent Hanna, who had worked with Somerhalder in releasing a wine brand in 2019, the three men aim to produce a whiskey that is approachable to those who are taking their first steps into the category, while still having the complexity for traditional drinkers to appreciate.
Sourced from the MGP Distillery in Indiana (although their own distillery is planned at some point), the mashbill is a four-grain recipe that uses 65% corn, 22% rye and an undisclosed split of barley and wheat. In order to be called Bourbon, it's matured in virgin American oak barrels for a minimum of 4 years, before being married in batches of never more than 45,000 bottles.
I was able to try the Cask Strength and Rye releases at an excellent restaurant near Orlando, which helped me make the easy decision to get my hands on some for the shop!
Whilst the 'standard' 40% Brother's Bond is an easy-drinking sipper, one might think a Cask Strength release is going to blow your socks off. However, this isn't too hot on the nose and has a lovely note of the dark version of a Terry's Chocolate Orange. That continues through onto the palate, where the dark chocolate and orange oil is joined with just a hint of chili flakes and salted toffee. It really does drink well neat, but if you do want to add water that will not do it a disservice, drawing out the fruitier notes and lengthening the finish.

As such, if you place an order on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, your order will be packaged up on the following Tuesday at re-opening, and then collected by Royal Mail on the Wednesday morning. All products are securely packaged in Air-Shock bottle bags or frankly excessive amounts of bubble wrap for additional protection.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery and any damages or shortage must be recorded on the relevant delivery acceptance forms with the delivery. Un-examined or un-checked goods that result in a subsequent claim outside of a 48 hour period will not be accepted. Queries relating to claims must be made within 48 hours of receiving the goods, otherwise claims cannot be guaranteed.
